Nevada State Museum’s Frances Humphrey Lecture Series Presenter
August 26, 2021 @ 6:30 am - 8:00 pm PDT
Well known pianist Squeek Steele will use the piano to present music of the twenties. While the program will focus on the upbeat music of the 1920s (Dixieland, Classic Jazz) we will examine the earlier types of music which led to the Jazz explosion of the Flapper Era: ragtime, blues, spirituals, and early jazz (originally spelled jass).
Presenter:
Squeek Steele, pianist, is no stranger to northern Nevada audiences. A regular performer at the Bucket of Blood Saloon in Virginia City (see calendar on her website: goodoldsongs.com) she continues to perform at various venues in the area. Classically trained she is noted for her Ragtime piano performances but is at home in all styles and genres of music. She holds a Guinness World Record for more pieces of music played from memory (1990 Guinness book, p. 18). She has released 14 albums available online and at her website. Squeek firmly believes music can save the world.
